An all-new Mazda SUV is on the horizon... the 2020 Mazda CX-30 is coming soon to Dolan Mazda, and its sure to cause quite a stir. The new CX-30 will be a compact SUV based on the new Mazda 3 that will slot between the current subcompact CX-3 and the CX-5. Unveiled at the Geneva auto show, the CX-30 is 173.0 inches long and rides on a 104.5-inch wheelbase, putting it right in the middle in terms of size. It will have an elegant, upscale design with sculpted flanks and the signature shield-shaped grille.

Mazda's latest SkyActiv vehicle architecture will underpin the CX-30. As with the Mazda3, front-wheel drive will be standard with all-wheel drive available, and the suspension will have the same strut-front/rear-torsion-beam layout. One of its available engines will be a 2.0-liter unit equipped with cylinder-deactivation technology that shuts down two of the four cylinders under light load conditions, such as cruising on the highway, to save fuel. Its standard motor will likely be a 186-horsepower inline four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Inside, the 2020 Mazda CX-30 will have an upmarket look. Mazda aims to make it quieter than most SUVs by using a generous amount of sound insulation. Its expected to have a revised infotainment system with an 8.8-inch touchscreen that's controlled by a knob located behind the gear selector on the center console. The CX-30's list of optional safety features is likely to include a driver monitoring system that detects fatigue by using a camera and an infrared LED to monitor how wide the driver’s eyes are open at any given time, the number of times he or she blinks, and the face’s angle. It will emit audible and visual warnings if it detects the driver is falling asleep. Semi-autonomous technology that assists the driver in a traffic jam will also be offered at an extra cost. The 2020 Mazda CX-30 won't be available until early next year. Contact Dolan Mazda for more information or to schedule a test drive.
